Introduction
Welcome, dream team! After filming the shots for our group's first draft, we realized that we incorporated a wide range of locations (beyond school) , which will all be listed below. A range of domestic, academic, and outdoor settings were included in the making of our film, and we hope to display the diversity of our audience in the background of our shots, while also establishing a clear picture of the urban setting, in which our film takes place. Through captivating, vibrant colors of orange from our first sequence, all the way to the dark blue/ neutral colored settings at the end of our filming, we were able to highlight a rollercoaster of different tones, which will all be sculpted together in the editing process, to a beautifully balanced blend of drama, comedy, and horror, which is sure to reel in our target mainstream audience!
Shot 1:
During the weekend before the deadline of this task, I recording the shots of Christine's room using a tripod, with my smartphone attached to it, and in this scene, Christine awoke from a nap, in her room of by walls covered in images, love letters, poems, and diary entries dedicated to Mercedes, her all-time crush.
Shot 2:
In our Media studies class, Mercedes and Lizzy is shown working on an assignment together, before Mercedes discussed her speculations about Christine and doubts on her character (as she believes Christine stole her bracelet). We used the time our instructor agave us during our class with her, and she allowed us to film this shot amongst many other of our fellow peers took advantage of this opportunity, as well.
Shot 3:
In this anxiety-inducing, adrenaline pumping, suspenseful scene, Mercedes walks the our school's most narrow hallway, towards the bathroom, however she is immediately anxious at the the sight of Christine gazing at her walk by lasciviously. During the time our instructor allowed us to film, she graciously gave us passes to leave her class and to film the remaining scenes we would need to finally record this shot, and the remaining shots below this image.
Shot 4:
This scene occurs in one of many of our school's bathrooms, and in this shot, Mercedes washes her hands before exiting the restroom, however, she is unaware of the fact that Christine followed her there and waited until she left to come out hiding (from within one of the locked stalls), in which the tone of this scene was meant to be suspenseful, and build up the the succeeding shots.
Shot 5:
In this shot, Christine's draws a picture of her crush, Mercedes, in a dark classroom (Media studies classroom), while humming, which established a sense of uneasiness and signified the horror genre. To add, we only captured a viewing of a fraction of the classroom, in order to avoid filming other classmates and groups without their knowledge or consent.
Shot 6:
Our group wanted to adhere to our script and shot list, and decided finish the sequence with the cliffhanger of Christine threatening Lizzy with bloody scissors, in a dark classroom closet (of our Media studies class), and then eventually being discovered by Mercedes; in which the camera does a tracking shot behind her and displays more of the classroom's setting, as a result.
